SAPIM Race spokes - one of the most versatile and widely used spokes with double butting for high tensile strength with low torsion. The tapered center section allows the SAPIM Race to absorb load peaks well and is long lasting. SAPIM Race spokes are DD (double-thickend) stainless steel spokes. Conified spokes from Sapim offer two key advantages: they are lighter and yet stronger. A special cold forging process preserves the linear molecular structure of the material and increases the strength of the thinner middle section by at least 48%. Conified spokes feature a tapered, springy center section. This enables the spokes to absorb short-term high loads. Spoke heads, hub flanges and nipple seats are protected in this way. Standard SAPIM Race spokes have a J-shaped bend at the head. It is the most commonly used design for bicycle spokes. In addition to the common designation "J-bend" or "J", "cranked", "curved", "curved head" or "curved neck" are also common.
